Older Adults
Many injuries, by older adults age 65 and over, can be predicted and prevented.  Falls are the leading cause of injury, responsible for deaths and are a main reason for admission to a nursing home.  Motor vehicle crashes are the second leading cause of injury.  One of the very important consequences of injuries is the change in lifestyle.  Injuries for seniors can mean the difference between dependency requiring institutional care and good health with independent living in the community.

The Peterborough County-City Health Unit urges older adults and their caregivers to be safety conscious.  Take action and seek out information, resources and safety tips on how to keep safe.  By doing so you will be helping yourself stay healthy, well, and independent.
